Generation Z, also known as digital natives or post-millennials, differs from previous generations in its unique values, ways of thinking and behavior patterns. This generation, born between 1995 and 2012, grew up in the digital age and has extensive knowledge of digital technologies. For them, digital media are not only a workspace, but also a living environment in which they learn, play, socialize and expand their network.

Managers can learn from digital natives in several areas:

1. understanding of the digital age: Digital natives not only have basic knowledge of current technologies, but also a profound understanding of how digital developments affect the market and customers. Leaders can use this knowledge to develop new digital strategies and implementation plans.

2. Adaptability to new technologies: Digital natives are used to quickly adapting to and experimenting with new technologies. They are able to learn and implement new applications quickly. This ability enables managers to improve the efficiency of digital technologies in the company and ensure that new technologies are used appropriately.

3. versatile use of media: digital natives have a 24/7 perspective on online communication. They spend a lot of time on social platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, TikTok, and Instagram to represent themselves and communicate. Executives can also use platforms such as LinkedIn or Xing to position themselves and show their interests. Reflective use of social media is critical here to realize its full potential.

4. recognizing dangers on the Internet: Digital natives face the risks of digitalization, such as cyberbullying, identity theft, and online fraud. Leaders should attain a higher level of technological literacy, especially with regard to cybersecurity. Through clear privacy policies, warnings of threats, use of strong passwords, and careful monitoring of information shared online, leaders can help minimize risks of the digital age.

5. Share in online groups: Digital natives seek to interact with others in topic-based online groups. Managers can create online groups themselves to interact and share ideas with their teams or other leaders.

So as a manager, you can learn from digital natives openness to new things, courage, and soft skills such as communication skills and creativity. These skills make all the difference and contribute to a successful digital transformation.
